SWAIP Learning Outcomes
Proposal for learning outcomes for the SWAIP study programme at IUA developed by the SWAIP project.
At the end of the study programme the student will have acquired knowledge in the field of Social inclusion and Well-being through the Arts and Interdisciplinary Practices (SWAIP).
This means that the student has achieved the following objectives:
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and Understanding
At the time of graduation students shall have acquired knowledge within the field of study.
This entails that students:
Know and understand different theories and concepts of social justice, inclusion and well-being.
Know the concept creativity and possibilities and limits of creative group work practices.
Are familiar with some approaches used within arts therapies.
Are familiar with the core concepts of participatory and community-based art and cultural projects.
Know and understand approaches of interdisciplinary arts practices.
Are familiar with and understand the issues that arise in the preparation process, and execution of group work.
Know and understand the ethics and value of professionalism in the field of working with vulnerable groups.
Know and understand empathy and compassion as a function and a theoretical concept.
SKILLS
Practical and Personal Skills
At the time of graduation students can use methods and procedures of their profession and field of study.
This entails that students:
Can utilize and apply personal skills to the creation, development and application of ideas.
Have developed understanding of the importance of empathy and compassion in contact, communication and dialogue.
Can identify social barriers and differences of those socially excluded.
Can identify potentials of those with special needs and differences with the aim of empowering the individual.
Can develop plans appropriate to each situation.
Are able to promote creativity and well-being through interdisciplinary practice for diverse groups in different contexts.
Are able to make independent, professional decisions based on creative, social and well-being arguments.
Can employ knowledge, understanding and problem-solving skills in projects.
Are able to reflect on and evaluate own performance from a professional perspective.
COMPETENCES
Competence in Transmission and Communication
At the time of graduation students should be able to use their knowledge and skills professionally and/or in further studies.
This entails that students:
Are able to transfer and communicate professional artistic, creative knowledge in the context of working with those with special needs and vulnerable communities aiming at well-being and social inclusion.
Are able to initiate creative projects with diverse groups, provide dialogue and assume responsibility for the work of individuals and groups.
Can participate actively in collaboration and social inclusion.
Academic Competence
At the time of graduation students should be able to use their knowledge and skills professionally and/or in further studies.
This entails that students:
Can apply academic knowledge, understanding and skills to projects.
Are able to use personal practical knowledge to reflect on and assess own performance, and apply to personal development and professional conduct.
Are able to assess and analyse the results of own studies as well as those of others.
Document general results of the group work as well as the execution and results of projects.
Have developed the necessary competence and independent work methods to be able to tackle further studies and/or work in their professional field.
